Touted as the year’s sexiest play to hit our shores, “The Vagina Monologues”, a powerful collection of anecdotes celebrating all things feminine, was given a fresh twist by director Loretta Chen.
Judy Ngo ranted about the injustices wrought against the vagina in “My Angry Vagina”; “The Coochie Snorcher That Could” illustrated the painful effects of sexual abuse as a child while Eleine Ng’s portrayal of the ‘moans’ women make during sex in “The Woman Who Made Vaginas Happy” was simply hilarious (my favourite was the Malay one!).
“Reclaiming Cunt” saw Asha Edmund proudly re-appropriating the derogatory term and zeroing in on audience members and getting them to yell the word “cunt”. The worried look on some of the audiences’ faces was priceless!
